How to Stay Informed

We are committed to meeting the healthcare needs of the communities we serve through vaccination, and that includes the COVID-19 vaccine. We are working closely with State and Federal health officials to provide you the most current information on the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine. We'll share that information with you here, so check back regularly for updates.

When Can I Get a COVID-19 Vaccine?

We will receive vaccine based upon the direction of public health officials. As we receive vaccine, we will administer to our communities as defined by Ohio’s phased approach. Vaccine supply and appointments are limited.

We thank you for your patience as we work to vaccinate Ohioans as quickly as possible.
  1. Once registered with VitaCare Pharmacy, we WILL contact you once it is your turn to schedule and we have adequate supply for your appointment.
  2. We will keep in touch with you throughout the process, so that you have the peace of mind to know you are still on our list, and will reach out to you as soon as possible.
  3. You do not need to register more than one time! Doing so may delay your appointment as it could push your registration to the end of the line.

Who Can Get a COVID-19 Vaccine?

VitaCare Pharmacy is a designated provider of the COVID-19 vaccine in the state of Ohio. We are following the state's phased approach in determining who is eligible to receive a vaccine.

Please note, depending on vaccine supply and demand in your area, you may not be contacted to schedule an appointment the day or even the week that your group becomes active. Again, we appreciate your patience as we continue to provide vaccine to the following groups:

Phase 1B

  • Ohioans age 80 and up (beginning 1/19)
  • Ohioans age 75 and up and those with severe congenital or developmental disorders (beginning 1/25)
  • Ohioans age 70 and up (beginning 2/1)
  • Individuals working in K-12 schools (beginning 2/1)
  • Ohioans age 65 and up (beginning 2/8)
  • Ohioans with early childhood conditions that are carried into adulthood (beginning 2/15):
    • Sickle cell anemia
    • Down syndrome
    • Cystic fibrosis
    • Muscular dystrophy
    • Cerebral palsy
    • Spina bifida
    • People born with severe heart defects, requiring regular specialized medical care
    • People with severe type 1 diabetes, who have been hospitalized for this in the past year
    • Phenylketonuria (PKU), Tay-Sachs, and other rare, inherited metabolic disorders
    • Epilepsy with continuing seizures; hydrocephaly; microcephaly, and other severe neurological disorders.
    • Turner syndrome, fragile X syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, and other severe genetic disorders.
    • People with severe asthma, who have been hospitalized for this condition in the past year.
    • Alpha and beta thalassemia.
    • Solid organ transplant candidates and recipients.

Phase 1C (beginning March 4th)

  • Diabetes Type 1
  • Pregnant
  • Bone Marrow Transplant Recipients
  • ALS
  • Childcare Services Worker
  • Funeral Services Worker
  • Law Enforcement, Corrections, Firefighter

Phase 2 (beginning March 4th)

  • Individuals age 60 to 64 years of age

How Do I Receive a COVID-19 Vaccine?

Use THIS tool to find out if you are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine and to book your appointment. Ohio is currently in Phases 1B, 1C, 1D, 2A and 2B of its COVID-19 vaccination program.

Do I Need To Re-Register or Call to Get My Second Dose?

No. One registration is all you need for the first and second dose. You will receive a second notification, just like you did for your first dose, when it is time for your second dose and we have vaccine available. You can then schedule your second dose appointment at a time convenient for you, just like the first dose. Please note that an appointment is required for your second dose.

About the COVID-19 Vaccines

All COVID-19 vaccine administered by VitaCare Pharmacy will be provided at no charge to the patient. For patients with insurance, we will need to bill your insurance. Please bring your insurance card with you. People without health insurance or whose insurance does not provide coverage of COVID-19 vaccines can also get a COVID-19 vaccine at no cost.
